These colorful unusual chunks of glass are known as a Gebre beads. Hailing from the Swat valley of Northern Pakistan, original Gebre beads are believed to be up to 2,000 years old. This region of the world has a very ancient history and is one of the crucibles of civilization. Interestingly, Alexander the Great passed through this valley on his way to conquer India. These beads are a more recent production that have been fashioned in the original form. ~TBC
